Ruff Rollin’ Wheelchairs for Dogs has been building custom dog wheelchairs for the last 6 years, with a combined 25 years experience in the disabled pet industry. It was crucial to us from the very beginning that our design be durable enough to withstand the wear and tear of the outdoors and the weather of all four seasons.

From hiking to river trips, there’s not a lot an animal can’t do with the help of a Ruff Rollin’ Dog Wheelchair. This is also where Ruffwear comes in: We have noticed over the years that a lot of our customers are also Ruffwear customers. One in particular Ruffwear + Ruff Rollin’ fan was Ledger, a spirited trail dog from West Virginia.

Kelly and Ledger

Kelly and her dog, Ledger, joined the Ruff Rollin’ family in November of 2012. Although Ledger only used his wheelchair for one year after his injury, he lived it like no other dog that we have worked with, even to this day. We miss hearing from Kelly and sharing in their adventures.

One of Ledger and Kelly’s last adventures was a five mile backpacking trek on the Greenbrier River Trail in their beautiful home of West Virginia. Along with some human friends and family, Kelly and Ledger took off and spent a few days in the wilderness, relying on their Ruffwear gear all the way. On the trip they enjoyed fishing, hiking, and tent camping. All of the dogs on this trip were able to share their Ruffwear Quencher collapsible bowls, while Ledger rested his tired body on his Ruffwear Mt. Bachelor Pad during their breaks from exploring. Ledger’s buddy, Woody, even rocked his Ruffwear Singletrak Pack on the Greenbrier!

It’s customers like these, providing countless photos and stories of their adventures using our carts, that make us so grateful to be doing what we are doing. Nothing makes us smile more than to know that we contribute to the enhancement of an outdoor dog’s life, and Ruffwear’s mission goes hand in hand with that philosophy. Thank you for sharing the journey with us!

In loving memory of Ledger (January 2009 – October 2013).
